Certified green industrial areas

Publicerat av Fellbe den

Imagine if there was a transnational standard for climate-neutral industrial areas and at the same time a toolbox to develop in that direction – have faith, soon it will be available.
The Interreg-Baltic sea region project GreenIndustrialAreas empowers public authorities to increase the share of smart and climate-neutral industrial areas and co-develop a transnational certification standard.

Pilot sites is developing
Very rewarding and interesting to have the opportunity as an associated partner to participate in the visit to Jyväskylä in March, 2024. The consortium met in Finland for a workshop and study visits to two industrial areas that are under development, Lintukangas and Eteläportti. We also visited and received a fantastic presentation of the two companies Metsä Group Bioproduct Mill in Äänekoski and DB Santasalo in Eteläportti.

In addition to the two industrial areas in Finland, four more pilot sites are included, in Denmark, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland and Germany. Sustainable Business Hub Scandinavia are working on developing a toolbox and certification criteria.

As I said, the visit to Finland was very inspiring and I look forward to following the project and how the various pilot sites develop. The aim of the project to produce a toolbox for municipalities and business parks that want to offer sustainable establishment opportunities in a ”Green industrial area” is in demand by companies that are themselves ”Green and clean” and therefore want to be in a sustainable environment with the right conditions to develop and build a brand together with like-minded entrepreneurs.
It is also always meaningful and rewarding to spend time together with driven, forward-looking and competent people from different countries. It provides new knowledge and positive energy – many thanks to everyone who shared your conditions and knowledge and continues to work on a very commendable project.
